Patek Philippe Twenty~4 watch in 18K rose gold and diamonds introduced in 1999

The Patek Philippe Twenty~4, A Watch for all Time

Designed exclusively for women, Patek Philippe’s newest Twenty~4 watch features a perpetual calendar, a first for the collection.

Founded in 1839 by Antoine Norbert de Patek and Jean Adrien Philippe, Patek Philippe ranks among the world’s very top watchmakers. Today, 186 years after its birth, the brand is the last remaining independent family-owned manufacture in Geneva. Patek Philippe’s watch production ranges from time-only watches to grand complications, minute repeaters and one-of-a-kind pieces. While many of its watches were, and are, regularly worn by both men and women, the brand had not had a collection that was exclusively dedicated to women until the Twenty~4 was introduced in 1999. And Patek Philippe broke with traditional Swiss watchmaking conventions by introducing the new watch in steel rather than gold.

Good to Go

Patek Philippe created the Twenty~4 “for every hour of the day and night, at work, at home and during leisure activities.” The collection’s concept inspired its name, and the watch was well-suited for a variety of occasions, from casual to formal. To ensure that it was ever-ready for the woman on the go, the watch was equipped with a convenient quartz movement. Stylistically, the Twenty~4 had a distinctly Art Deco look, featuring a two-tiered rectangular case set with diamonds, gently curved to fit seamlessly onto the wrist. Extending the watch’s clean look and lines was a wide-link manchette cuff-style bracelet, and the dial featured just two Arabic numerals at 12 and 6 o’clock.

Heart of Gold

Notably, the Twenty~4 was among the earliest luxury steel watches to be set with diamonds. Just one year after its launch, Patek Philippe expanded the Twenty~4 collection with the introduction of 18K gold versions. In the years since, the brand has introduced several iterations of the now-iconic timepiece, including high jewelry versions, in a variety of precious metals set with diamonds and colored precious stones.

A Grand Complication

The first Twenty~4 with a round case joined the collection in 2018. The new timepiece, the Twenty~4 Automatic, was equipped with a self-winding mechanical movement and featured a date aperture and a sweep-second hand.

In 2025, for the first time, a mechanical complication was added to the collection. And this was not just any complication: The brand chose to equip the rose gold watch with a grand complication in the form of a perpetual calendar.

The timeless design of the Twenty~4 has established itself as a modern classic,” said Thierry Stern, Patek Philippe’s president. It most certainly has.
